The Toughest Shot

Interview by Lawrence Booth.

To becoming a successful leg-spinner

I am a 15-year-old leg-spinner who played men’s cricket last year. I found I was restricted in bowling my variations and flighted deliveries – either the captain tells me not to or they do not affect the adults. I also struggle to bowl to tailenders who try to hit me out of the ground and seem to succeed. I prefer bowling at the upper order players. How should I bowl at batsmen with poorer techniques, and for a young leggie, what is the approach, style and technique for success in the adult game.
